Police sign cooperation agreement with City Security
– The police want to cooperate with all serious actors in the security industry. Therefore, it is entirely possible that the collaboration agreement will include more actors in the future, says Christina Rooth from the police.
As a business contact in the Oslo Police District, she will on Monday open the event marking the signing between six security companies and the capital's police.
Already in autumn 2014, a cooperation was formalised between the security industry and the then Sentrum police station. On 1 December 2015, the first version of the cooperation guide for the industry and Oslo police was published. In January this year, the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise met with the National Police Directorate to sign the agreement stating that the cooperation guide shall apply to all police districts.
Both police chief Hans Sverre Sjøvold and section leader Robert Thorsen from the Central division, will on Monday be able to speak about good experiences related to the collaboration that has taken place in Oslo.
The agreement to be signed on Monday clarifies responsibilities, roles, and duties in day-to-day operations among other things – but also in connection with major incidents.
The agreement does not grant new powers to the industry. Security guards are not to perform police work, but they are to contribute to the police being able to do their job better, writes the Oslo police in a press release.
It is also pointed out that the police and the security industry shall involve each other in current plans, exercises, evaluations, and learning. The cooperation agreement shall ensure knowledge of the parties' operations, resources, expertise, and organisation.
Before the police sign up with the following companies on Monday, Regional Director John Erik Strømstad of Securitas will also bring to the table his experiences and future thoughts related to the collaboration between the security industry and the police.
Securitas, Nokas, Skan-kontroll, Pro Sec Professional Security AS, City Security and Keysec (formerly Oslo Security).
