City Security starts guard duty on the Oslo Metro today

This is happening in collaboration with Norsk Vektertjeneste and Pro Sec Professional Security, where basic guard and security services will be provided on the T-banen (metro), as well as event security and support for the staging of major events in Oslo.

How have experiences from the process been so far?

We are very pleased. It has been a rather seamless transition from their previous supplier of security services to us and with our security guards. It has always been important for us to show all of Sporveien that we have what it takes.

-The security guards showed up with great commitment this morning. There's also a small internal celebration. We've received good feedback amongst the security guards on how we've planned the transition. It appears to be going smoothly. However, we'll have to wait and see, the day isn't over yet.

What does the mission entail specifically?

– The assignment is to provide security services to Sporveien T-banen AS as a company. In short, the security guards are meant to function as relationship builders and problem solvers for the public, travellers, and employees. They should do this as effectively as possible, while also being proactive about potential risks.

What does that mean for the guards

For the security guards, this means providing security at stations, infrastructure, on the tracks, and on the Metro trains throughout Sporveien's operating hours. They have received training and approval to travel on the tracks. With the training and equipment they have been given, they are an outstretched hand and a representative of Sporveien's management and us, says Anders Ek, CEO of City Security.

Can you reveal some figures on how big this is?

– The assignment is relatively large. There were 93 million journeys on the metro in 2015. The number of journeys has increased by 43% in just 8 years. As of today, we have 40 employees working to ensure the service runs as excellently as possible. In addition, a large number of part-time employees are required to assist in the running of large events and on special occasions. We also have an increase in staff to over 300 guards in readiness should anything serious happen.
