An important step forward: City Security is ISO certified
City Security is now certified according to the international standards ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). With over 250 employees and a growing customer portfolio, the certification marks an important step in the company's systematic work with quality, sustainability and a safe working environment, and strengthens the foundation for the further development of the business and the services we deliver.
– We have always been dedicated to delivering consistent and high quality, regardless of the assignment. The ISO work has given us a tool to ensure that quality is maintained as we continue to grow, says Anders Ek, Managing Director of City Security.
The certification entails, amongst other things, clearer processes, systematic handling of non-conformities and a stronger focus on continuous improvement. The goal is to create value for both customers and employees through more structured and forward-looking operations.
Environmental work gets a new platform
City Security has been Miljøfyrtårn (Eco-Lighthouse) certified for several years. With ISO 14001, the company is taking the next step towards an internationally recognised environmental management system, while simultaneously bringing quality, environment and the working environment together in one and the same structure.
– Our environmental work doesn't stop here. We are building further on the foundation we have already established through Eco-Lighthouse. The difference is that we now have a framework that makes it easier to measure, document and improve our work over time, says Anders.
Quality should not just be on paper
For City Security, security is largely about people: the guards who are out on the job every day, and the contact persons the customers deal with. The certification is not intended to change this way of working, but to provide clearer frameworks for it.
– We have built the company on close follow-up and a single dedicated contact person with decision-making authority, without unnecessary layers. That is our strength. ISO 9001 is not about changing this, but about ensuring the quality is the same every time, and that we work systematically with learning and improvement when something does not go to plan, Anders explains.
Security at work, not just for the customers
ISO 45001 focuses on the working environment, safety and well-being of employees. The standard helps the company to work in a more structured way to prevent risk, involve employees and ensure good working conditions.
– Many of our employees have been with us for a long time, and we want more people to have the opportunity to experience that. To achieve this, we must have robust safety procedures, clear communication, and genuine opportunities to be heard, for both permanent employees and on-call staff, says Anders.
The company is concurrently working on several full-time positions and internal security guard training, which is closely linked to its work environment initiative.
Although the certification marks an important milestone, Ek emphasises that the work is primarily about the everyday lives of employees and customers.
– The certificate is confirmation of the work we do, but the most important thing is that the way we work continues to improve for those who depend on us, whether it is a security officer at work or a customer who needs quick and good answers. ISO must be part of our daily operations, not just something we can show off on a certificate, he concludes.
